A quantitative correlational approach was used, with path analysis as the main analytical technique. The sample consisted of 169 teachers selected proportionally from a population of 292. Data were collected through a structured Likert-scale questionnaire. The findings revealed that: (1) servant leadership, work motivation, and job commitment each had a significant direct effect on teacher performance; (2) servant leadership and work motivation significantly influenced job commitment; and (3) job commitment served as a significant mediating variable in the relationship between servant leadership and work motivation on teacher performance. The coefficient of determination showed that the three independent variables explained 56% of the variance in teacher performance, with the remaining 44% influenced by other factors. These results emphasize that a servant leadership style and strong intrinsic motivation can significantly enhance teachers’ job commitment and performance. Therefore, strengthening principals' leadership capacities and enhancing teachers' internal motivation are effective strategies for improving the quality of basic education.
Yuni Tampi, Ahmad Suriansyah, Noorhapizah Noorhapizah ##submission.copyrightStatement## http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/4.0 https://ejournal.iain-manado.ac.id/jeer/article/view/1501 Mon, 29 Dec 2025 03:59:45 +0000 Development of a Research-Based Learning Model Integrated with Character Education (RBL-ICE) in Basic Science Course https://ejournal.iain-manado.ac.id/jeer/article/view/1639
The lack of integration between research-based learning and character education remains a major challenge in Islamic higher education today, where students are required to master 21st-century skills while also developing strong character and academic integrity. This study aims to develop a Research-Based Learning model integrated with Character Education (RBL-ICE) and its associated instructional devices for the Basic Science course. The study employed a Research and Development (R&D) approach with the 4D model (define, design, develop, disseminate). The population comprised all Madrasah Ibtidaiyah (MI) pre-service teachers enrolled in the Basic Science course at IAIN Manado. The sample consisted of 15 students selected through purposive sampling. The measured variables included learning outcomes, learning motivation, and student character. Learning outcomes were obtained through pretest and posttest, learning motivation was measured using a questionnaire based on the ARCS model, and character was assessed using observation sheets. The validity of the model and instructional devices was evaluated by two material experts and two media experts. The material experts rated the research instruments, lesson plans, teaching materials, and student worksheets as very feasible, while the media experts rated the student worksheets and teaching materials as very feasible. Learning outcomes data were analyzed using prerequisite tests (normality) and hypothesis testing with a paired sample t-test, whereas motivation and character were analyzed descriptively. The implementation of the RBL-ICE model improved students’ learning outcomes, with an average pretest score of 66.67 and posttest score of 77.07, and an N-gain of 0.3271 (moderate category), accompanied by increased motivation and character in the positive category. These findings indicate that the RBL-ICE model is effective in enhancing the learning outcomes, motivation, and character of prospective MI teachers in the Basic Science course at IAIN Manado.
Mutmainah Mutmainah, Rhyan Prayuddy Reksamunandar, Aulia Revalina Mokoginta, Fadzilah Abd Rahman ##submission.copyrightStatement## http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/4.0 https://ejournal.iain-manado.ac.id/jeer/article/view/1639 Mon, 29 Dec 2025 05:43:18 +0000 Effect Chain Writing Method with Let’s Read Application on Short Story Ability https://ejournal.iain-manado.ac.id/jeer/article/view/1548
This research is pushed by the phenomenon of low writing proficiency of students. Many students experience confusion when trying to form sentences, which in turn hinders their skill to write short stories effectively, both in terms of structure, vocabulary, and idea development. It is believed that applying the chain writing method could enhance students’ abilities to write short stories. Through pretests and posttests on 4th grade students in elementary schools, it is concluded that there is an influence of the chain writing method, particularly with the guidance of the digital media application “Let's Read.” This is supported by the outcomes of the posttest's mean score in the empirical Group being greater than in the control Group. The score for the control class was 74.6 while the score for the empirical class was 85.6. The outcomes of information analysis fulfilled a tcount value (-5.578) > ttable (-1.672) and fulfilled a remarkable score of sig. (2-tailed) 0.000 < 0.05. With these outcomes, it can be concluded that the chain writing method with the Let's Read application has a remarkable influence on short story writing skill of 4th grade students in elementary schools, compared to conventional studying by the lecture method.
Shofiah Ajjahra, Mubarak Ahmad ##submission.copyrightStatement## http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/4.0 https://ejournal.iain-manado.ac.id/jeer/article/view/1548 Mon, 29 Dec 2025 06:11:15 +0000 Deep Learning: A Greeting and Question Model to Improve Students' Communication and Critical Thinking SkillS https://ejournal.iain-manado.ac.id/jeer/article/view/1637
This study aims to analyze how in-depth learning using the greeting and question model can improve students' communication and critical thinking skills. This research is a case study with a qualitative approach. The subjects were lecturers and class A students in the first semester of the 2025-2026 Academic Year at the Elementary Madrasah Teacher Education Study Program, Syarif State Islamic University. Data collection techniques included interviews, observation, and documentation. Data validity was ensured using source-based triangulation and techniques. Data collection instruments included interview guides, observation sheets, and document checklists. Data analysis used the Miles, Huberman, and Saldana model, which consists of data condensation, data presentation, and data verification. The results of this study indicate that the implementation of in-depth learning using the greeting and question model can effectively improve students' communication and critical thinking skills. Improvement in communication skills occurs directly and gradually through active interaction and collaboration Improved critical thinking skills occur as a byproduct of the processes within this model. Students indirectly practice their critical thinking skills through the stages of material analysis, knowledge synthesis, question and answer evaluation, and problem-solving. In conclusion, the implementation of in-depth learning using the greeting and question model successfully improves students' communication and critical thinking skills.
Zaenul Slam, Agung Sultoni, Shopia Amalia, Wai Mar Phyo ##submission.copyrightStatement## http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/4.0 https://ejournal.iain-manado.ac.id/jeer/article/view/1637 Mon, 29 Dec 2025 06:41:04 +0000 The Value of Children's Education in the Katoba Ritual and its Implications for Moral Education https://ejournal.iain-manado.ac.id/jeer/article/view/1642
In the context of Muna society, katoba exists as an educational ritual that continues to survive and exist amidst the onslaught of modernization. This study aims to examine how children are educated in the katoba ritual and its implications for moral education. This study uses Spradley's qualitative approach, which is included in the type of ethnographic research. This approach emphasizes an in-depth study of a particular cultural group or community. Data collection was conducted through observation, interviews, and documentation. Data collection was conducted through observation, interviews, and documentation. The data sources were one traditional leader (LS) and one religious leader (LM) who performed the katoba ritual. The research location in this paper is in the South Wakorumba district, Muna Regency. The selection of South Wakorumba district as the research location is based on the fact that South Wakorumba sub-district still maintains authentic Muna culture, thus the implementation of the katoba ritual is still carried out continuously. The results of the study indicate that the katoba ritual has a moral educational meaning contained in each of its three main steps: the initial implementation, the main implementation, and the closing implementation. The initial stage is marked by the wearing of traditional Muna clothing, the main stage is the core procession, namely the giving of toba advice from the priest to the toba participants, and the third is the banquet, which is the final procession in the katoba ritual. This educational value is obtained from the advice expressed by the imam to the Toba participants. The educational values are morals towards Allah, morals towards others and morals towards the environment.
Aris Armeth Daud Al Kahar, Svetlana Nikolaevna Bogatyreva, Sintha Sih Dewanti, Mahmud Arif, Abroto Abroto ##submission.copyrightStatement## http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/4.0 https://ejournal.iain-manado.ac.id/jeer/article/view/1642 Mon, 29 Dec 2025 06:56:39 +0000 The Influence of Principal’s Managerial Skills, Work Commitment, and Motivation on Teacher’s Organizational Citizenship Behavior (OCB) at Private Islamic Elementary School https://ejournal.iain-manado.ac.id/jeer/article/view/1494
Teachers are a key factor in educational success. Teacher quality is not only determined by formal performance, but also by their extra-role behavior called Organizational Citizenship Behavior (OCB). This study aims to analyze the influence of madrasah principals' managerial skills, work commitment, and work motivation on OCB of Private Elementary Madrasah (MIS) teachers in Banjarbaru City, both directly and indirectly through mediating variables. The study used a quantitative approach with a correlational design. The population included 214 teachers, with a sample of 139 respondents selected through proportional random sampling technique. Data analysis was performed using multiple linear regression and path analysis using the t-test and Sobel test. The results showed that madrasah principals' managerial skills significantly influenced OCB (β = 0.512; p = 0.047), work commitment (β = 0.513; p = 0.024), and work motivation (β = 0.432; p = 0.030). Work commitment also significantly influenced OCB (β = 0.608; p = 0.041), while work motivation had no direct effect (p = 0.085). However, the indirect effect of managerial skills on OCB through commitment and motivation was proven significant (p < 0.05). These findings emphasize the importance of strengthening the managerial skills of madrasah principals and increasing teacher commitment and motivation to encourage more optimal OCB.
Muhammad Rizaly Rachman, Aslamiah Aslamiah, Ahmad Suriansyah ##submission.copyrightStatement## http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/4.0 https://ejournal.iain-manado.ac.id/jeer/article/view/1494 Mon, 29 Dec 2025 07:11:58 +0000 The Effect of The CTL Model Assisted by Digital Pop-Up Books on The Learning Outcomes of IPAS Subject In Fourth Grade Elementary School https://ejournal.iain-manado.ac.id/jeer/article/view/1531
The low learning outcomes of IPAS elementary school students, especially in the material on changes in the form of abstract objects, shows the need for a more contextual and visual learning approach. So far, various studies have discussed the CTL model and digital pop-up book media separately, but there are still limited studies that combine these models and learning media.therefore, This study aims to examine the effect of applying the Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) model, supported by digital pop-up book media, on the learning outcomes of Grade IV elementary school students in the subject of Integrated Natural and Social Sciences (IPAS), specifically on the topic of changes in the states of matter.
